Tezak Heavy Equipment was formed in 1989 by Danny Tezak and his father Ed Tezak, Jr.  Danny bought the business from his father in 1998 and has driven the business to be the most successful it has ever been. Danny's sister, Rhonda Lewis, CPA, came back to work for the family business in the fall of 1999 in the capacity of Vice-President/Controller for the company. Both Danny and Rhonda were raised in the business of highway/heavy construction allowing them to have hands-on and practical knowledge of the construction industry.


Tezak Heavy Equipment has extensive experience in highway/heavy construction, mass excavation, urban channel drainage projects, natural river restoration, water and sewer installation, and commercial overlot grading. An exciting new point of focus within our organization is the design/build method of delivery for various types of projects. We have forged some strong relationships with professional engineering consultants that we have substantial history with and have found this to be a unique and innovative approach to constructing projects.  We count as our valued clients the following organizations: CDOT, Colorado Springs Utilities, City of Colorado Springs, City of Aurora, City of Thornton, City of Cañon City, Denver Water Authority, Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, Pioneer Natural Resources, Freeport MacMoran, as well as Cripple Creek & Victor Gold Mining Company.

Along with the above construction activities, Tezak Heavy Equipment operates two rock quarries in southeastern Colorado.  These quarries have produced a combined 500,000 + tons/year for the last few years, with much of this rock being utilized on our own construction projects. These quarries also service other outside organizations involved in the production of asphalt and concrete in the Colorado Springs marketplace.


All of our upper management personnel are very “hands-on” and knowledgeable about all aspects of the business. This allows us to develop long-term relationships with our customers. We value these relationships and believe that our customer’s success directly affects oursuccess.


Being a local company works to our advantage due to the fact that we know local market conditions that could affect your project.  This allows us to work with your company to achieve your goals of a profitable operation. We are always available on short notice to address any concerns that may arise during the normal course of business operations and make any appropriate changes that may be required. We do not have layers of management nor do we have a home office hundreds of miles away that must approve any changes to the scope of work.
